Important Procedures to Follow At Our Parish

Dear Faithful,
I hope this email finds you and your family well.

Saturday, August 1st begins the two week summer fast that leads us to the Feast of the Falling Asleep of the Most Holy Theotokos on August 15th. We are called to take up a modest fast and increase our prayer as we turn more fervently to the intercessions of the Mother of our God. In the long history of the Church, Mary time and time again provides great comfort and strength to suffering Christian people. She is a source of steady guidance and strong encouragement in days of trouble and hardship.
We are grateful to our science community and health care workers during this pandemic of COVID-19. We are grateful for the precautions being taken in our communities and the cooperation of our neighbors. We all strive to do our part.

We faithful Christians have a vital role to play. In this time of health crisis and economic struggle and cultural confusion, we are called to repent, to pray, to fast, and give alms and acts of mercy wherever we can. This August fast is a particular gift and great opportunity to turn toward God ... bearing the burdens of one another and refusing to allow God to be forgotten in the relentless stream of media coverage and political tensions. Let us take up this fast as a contrite offering of faith and thanksgiving to God - begging Him to bestow peace to our hearts and to our suffering nation.

Several things are happening in our parish in the days ahead. We will have Vespers on Saturday evening (6:30) and Divine Liturgy on Sunday morning (9:30). These services will be live streamed on our YouTube channel - Holy Trinity Poconos.

Here are important procedures to follow at our parish if you would like to attend in person:

** Face masks must be worn throughout the services ... even if you are social distanced within the Church building. Please let me know if there are reasons why you are unable to wear a face mask.

** Social Distancing must be observed while at the Church. This especially includes receiving wine and prosphora at the zapivka table following communion. After receiving communion and returning your face mask in place, please collect your cup of wine and piece of prosphora and clear the area so that others may approach the zapivka table.

** It is essential that you contact me if you intend to be at the Sunday Liturgy. Even if you have already been attending liturgical services, I still must be notified and your name placed on the list. People not on the list will be asked not to enter the Church.

** If you are not feeling well or have an elevated body temperature, you must stay home and not attend Church.
